He is survived by: his children, Denise Epps, Rochelle Hardy, Richard Hardy, Jr. and Ernest A. Smith, Sr.; his children-in-law, David Hurst and Mary Jo Smith; and his sisters, BettyMae Ellis and Doris Dickerson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
