He was predeceased by: his parents, Eslie W. Gardner and Isabella Gardner (Eby); and his brothers, Larry and Roger Gardner. He is survived by: his son John W. Gardner (Couoyna Goodman); his grandson John W. Gardner, Jr.; and his sister June Gardner. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Zenas' memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
