Joseph McGurrin wrote a sympathy message

“We all loved Gary. After an almost 10 year layoff from tennis, he got me back into the sport. It's the only exercise I get and likely responsible for saving my health. Gary was a great tennis player. And an even greater person. Thnaks for being part of my life, Gary!”
