Richard leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Richard’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Richard will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his wife Rändi Sigmund Smith. He is survived by: his daughters, Robin Lynne Smith (Todd Alan Warner) of Shanghai, China and Rändi Smith Bessette (Jeffrey Robert Bessette) of Maryland; his grandchildren, Louis John "L. J." Luba III of New York City, Luke Holden Bessette and Marie Rändi Bessette of Maryland; and his son-in-law Louis John Luba, Jr. of Florida.
A memorial service was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church (1283 Odenton Rd, Odenton, MD 21113).
