She was predeceased by: her mother Dorothy J. Tolbert. She is survived by: her father Charlie Tolbert; her stepmother Maryann Tolbert; her brothers, Charles Tolbert (Lonnie) and Barry Tolbert (Sylvia); her nieces, Loni Tolbert, Brittany Tolbert and Alexandra Tolbert; her great-nephew Emmanuel Tolbert; and her stepfather Fred McManus.
She raised vital awareness and funds for the United Negro College Fund. After battling and surviving breast cancer, she became and enthusiastic supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
