He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Allan Schechtman and Judy Schechtman; his spouse Dr. Shira Rubinstein; his siblings, Paul Schechtman (Pamela) and Susan Cohen (Scott); his nephews, Benjamin and Jeremy Cohen; and his aunts, Gloria Shafran (late John) and Alberta Schechtman (late Joseph).
In 2020, Eric re-discovered B'nai Jeshurun when his parents both died during the Covid Pandemic, and he needed a synagogue to make the necessary daily prayers for them.
