“Jerry was my last roommate at Oberlin College and a co-founder (with me) of the Oberlin College Jazz Club, which brought the Dave Brubeck Quartet to our campus in 1953. Jerry performed as MC at that event. It resulted in the great album "Jazz at Oberlin". Jerry also was part of our group that traveled from Oberlin to Toronto to see and hear the Greatest Jazz Concert Ever (Gillespie, Parker, Powell, Mingus and Roach). We miss you, Jerry. Jim Newman”
