She was predeceased by: her parents, Romeo Horad and Betty Horad Payne. She is survived by: her husband Edward T. Nelson, Sr.; her sons, Edward T. Nelson, Jr., John D. Nelson (LaTiahna), Michael A. Nelson (Praphat), Kenneth C. Nelson (Joycelyn) and Christopher S. Nelson (late Linda Nelson); her grandchildren, Bethany Braga, Edward T. Nelson III, Kenneth Nelson, Jr., Steven Nelson, Justin Nelson and Joshua Nelson; her great grandchildren, Miles Braga, Scarlett Braga, Korbin Dallas and Wesley Nelson; and her sisters, Diane Dabney and Benita Bouknight. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the DeVol Funeral Home (10 E Deer Park Dr, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery (13801 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20906).
