He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Gardenhour and LaFerne Gardenhour; his wife Susan Patricia Gardenhour; and his siblings, Charles Gardenhour and Jeanette McCullough.
He is survived by: his children, Melanie Rae Davies, Richard Lee Gardenhour Jr. (Donna), Dawn Elizabeth Gardenhour, Patrick Scott Gardenhour (Andrea) and Joseph Everett Gardenhour (Susan); his grandchildren, Brittany, Kalee Rae, Jacob, Zachary, Conner and Carley; his stepgrandchildren, Crystal, Danielle, Dakota and Michael; his great grandchildren, Aubrey and Landon; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Kenzie, Kamryn, Kaden, Little Chris, Giuliana, Riley, Ayrabella and Oden.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (16 N Main St, Smithsburg, MD 21783).
