He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett William, Sr. and Grace Harris (Baker); his former wife Mary Robey Harris; his siblings, Vivian, William and Thomas; and also Carl Bevard, Sr..
He is survived by: his family Joe; his wife Linda Mary Harris; and his children, Mary Jo Bevard (Bruce, Sr.) of Huntingtown, Vicki Ball (Brian) of Huntingtown, Janet Lumpkins (Sharon) of Manassas, VA, Kathy Bevard of Accokeek and Joseph Harris, Jr. of Chesapeake Beach. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews from his siblings.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Emmanuel Church (3800 Old Town Rd, Huntingtown, MD 20639). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the MD Veterans Cemetery-Cheltenham (11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD 20623).
Joe was also an active volunteer with the Red Cross, donating blood every three months from 1950 until he turned 90.
