She was predeceased by: her parents, Mildred Nelson and Robert Nelson of Freedmen's Hospital; her stepfather James West; her grandmothers, Mildred Smith and Jean Johnson; her brother Demetrius V. Nelson, Sr.; and her nephews, Demetrius V. Nelson, Jr. and Quanta Johnson.
She is survived by: her brothers, Irving and Wayne Nelson; her aunt Michelle; and her uncle Michael. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, godsons and goddaughters, relatives and friends.
