He was predeceased by: his father Francis E. "Smitty" Smith; his grandparents, Lloyd E. Hoke and Margaret Anders Hoke; and his brother-in-law Wayne "Smoke" Kerns. He is survived by: his parent Beverly Hoke of Cascade, MD; his children, Deanna Smith (Charlie Perella), Kaylee Smith and Edward Smith, Jr.; his spouse Robin Wilhide Smith; his grandchildren, Aliannah Smith, Colton Lynch, Ryleigh Perella and Heaven Baskerville; and his siblings, JoAnn Kerns (Wally Boggs), Robert "Bobby" Smith (Patti Swakopf) and Kristin Davis (Joey Sweeney).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Hartzler Funeral Home-Woodsboro (404 S Main St, Frederick, MD 21798). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
