He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurston Nelson Smith and Cora Weddle Gorley; his stepmother Zelma Seiss Smith; and his stepson Claude S. Bowers Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Lee Smith; his daughter Lisa Smith; his stepdaughters, Tammy Griffin (James) and Michelle Silverman (Russ); his grandchildren, Raine, Meredith, Bradley, Alyssa, Chuck, Robert Bowman, Bruce Cunningham, Samuel and Rachel Silverman; his sister Veronica Smith (Richard); his aunts, Mary Fogle and Doris Smith; his siblings-in-law, Sarah Stambaugh, Patricia Flohr (Dave) and Jack Nunemaker (Nancy); his pet Greta Von; and his friends, Doug Seiss and Bill Raines. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Weller United Methodist Church (101 N Altamont Ave, Thurmont, MD 21788). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
