He was predeceased by: his parents, James T. Cavanaugh, Jr. and Gertrude G. Cavanaugh of Madison, CT; and his sisters, Jean Smith of Branford, CT, Ann Buckey of Haddam, CT and Peggy Miller Bloom of Niantic, CT..
He is survived by: his wife Gerry of Towson; his family, Kathy Cavanaugh of Providence, RI, Jim Cavanaugh (Deb) of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Eileen Bender (Dan) of Glen Ellyn, IL and Jack Cavanaugh (Cynthia) of Towson, MD.; his grandchildren, Ben Cavanaugh (Amanda), Katie Torres (Sergio), John Cavanaugh, Finn Bender, Payton Cavanaugh and George Bender; and his sister Rosemary Turano (Lew) of Stamford, CT. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. (1050 York Rd, Towson, MD 21204). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary Seminary and University (5400 Roland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21210).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edenwald Scholarship Fund, Inc. or Mercy Health Services.
