We announce the death of John D. Knapton in Towson, Maryland, who passed away on October 4, 2026, at the age of 94. John will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Taylor Knapton and Ella Adams Johnson Knapton; his wife Joan Knapton (Jacobson); and his son Alan Knapton. He is survived by: his children, Edward Knapton (Ellen), Debbie Dunbar, Julie Lynn (David), Mary Goldsborough (Charles), Carolyn Barcomb (Nathan) and William Knapton (Alison); his children-in-law, Mike Dunbar and Diana Knapton; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Kaleigh, Douglas, Clara, Adam, Juliana, Michael Jr., Christina, Conner, Ryan, Natalie, Anna, Nigel, Charles IV, John Emmerson, Graham, Conrad, Hannah, Phoebe, Alice, Owen, Iris, Oliver and Eve; and his great grandchildren, Aiden, Aspen, Felix, Theodore, Alexander and Margaret.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (2929 Level Rd, Churchville, MD 21028). A burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at the same location.
