He was predeceased by: his father George Shapanus, Sr.; his brother George Shapanus, Jr.; and his mother-in-law Maxine Svach. He is survived by: his wife Kendra Shapanus; his mother Katherine Shapanus; his brothers, Vincent Shapanus (Julia) and Christopher Shapanus; his siblings' children, Alexandra Perry, Zach Shapanus, Anastasia Polek and Spencer Polek; his father-in-law Joseph J. Svach; and his siblings-in-law, Mark and Tressie Polek.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Round Canopy Parachute Team.
