He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Ruth Elizabeth Spann; his children, Sean Spann (Bud Williams) and Chris Spann (Shannon Wood); his grandchildren, Sydney Spann, Aidan Spann, Reece Spann, Jackson Spann and Grier Spann; his siblings, Robert Spann and Thomas Spann; and his friend Bill Borges.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William C. Spann Scholarship Fund at the University of Maryland .
