She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas H. Marvel, Sr. and Emily Mullikin Marvel; her husband W. Irvin "Doc" Schwaninger; and her brothers, Thomas Marvel, Jr. and John Marvel.

She is survived by: her children, Kay Daffin (John) of Queen Anne and Walt Schwaninger, Jr. (Judy) of Trappe; her grandchildren, Rachel Coursey (Chase), Becky Mitchell (Trevor), Lauren Daffin, Lisa Cunningham (Ben) and Sarah Lewis (Joe); and her great grandchildren, J. Deale Coursey, Wyatt Coursey, Alayna Mitchell, Landon Mitchell and James Lewis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
