He is survived by: his wife Millie Williams Simons; his children, Maresa Simons, James Simons Jr. (Sandy) and Lorene Cannella; his grandchildren, Jimmy Simons III (Lish), Heather Simons Magliocca (Rick), Michael Picarella, Jeremy Picarella, Kevin Cannella, Katie Simons and Gabrielle Cannella Varesano (Mike); his great grandchildren, Richard Magliocca III, Jaron Magliocca, Hope, Trinity, Dalton, Colton Simons, Tristen, Natalie, Evalynn Picarella and Regina Cannella; and his sister LaRue White.
