With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Emma Mae Jarrells of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 25, 2025 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by: her husband James H. Jarrells; her parents, Pattie Lou Manley-Alston and Abraham Alston; and her siblings, Francis Carter, Rosa Robinson, John Alston and Helen Brinkley.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Ruth Perkins, Susie Harrison, Booker T. Alston and Daisy Mae Brinkley; her children, Rose M. Foster-Smith (Darryl) and James J. Jarrells (Connie); and her siblings-in-law, Hattie P. Pittman and Leroy Brinkley. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends.
