She was predeceased by: her parents, Annie Bell Lifford and Charlie Carter; and her brothers, Joseph Carter and Tommy Carter. She is survived by: her children, Sonya R. and Torrance E.; her granddaughter Kristina A. Townsend; her siblings, Billy Carter, Herman Peterson and Sherry J. Carter; and her former husband Cleveland Edmund Pyatt.

Rather than flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in memory of Jessie Ann Carter.
