It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernice Tyler Avery of Waldorf, Maryland, who passed away on September 20, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Bernice may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Roosevelt Tyler and Elizabeth Tyler; and her husband David Earl Avery. She is survived by: her children, Dedrick Avery of Washington, D. C. and Crystal Wilkes (Jerome Wilkes) of Brandywine, MD; her siblings, Clinton Tyler (Juanita Tyler) and Lorraine Colbert; and her grandchildren, Shawnice Reed, Deaven Cyprien (John Cyprien), Cheniya Bowers and Jerome Wilkes Jr.. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
