He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyden Brickell and Iva Lee Brickell; his wife Kay Brickell; and his brother Robert J. Brickell. He is survived by: his sons, Chris Brickell (Sabine) of Ashburn and Mark Brickell of Huntingtown; his grandchildren, Amanda Drapeau (Max), Christopher Brickell and Jacob Brickell; his sister Gale Harris (Ned) of Chesapeake; his nephew Will Harris (Jenn); his great-niece Allyson; his niece Jenny Bell Rose; his great-nephews, Tyler and Sage; and his pet Smokey.
