With solemn reverence, we commemorate John Hall Mathews Sr. of Waldorf, Maryland, whose life came to an end on January 12, 2026 at the age of 98, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
As we bid adieu to John Hall's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in his wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration John Hall has bequeathed us. For though he may have departed from our sight, his spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy C. Mathews and Ercie B. Mathews. He is survived by: his significant other Joan Mae Hamilton; his children, Susan (Tom), John (Barbara) and Patti (Neil); and his close friend Mary Ellen Cooper (Cooper). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St Paul's Episcopal Church (4535 Piney Church Rd, Waldorf, MD 20602).
In lieu of flowers, gifts in John's name can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake and St Paul's Episcopal Church.
