He is survived by: his sibling JC; his girlfriend Vicky Arter; his children, Charles Barnes, Tomeka Cuthbertson, Dominic Arter and Tawona Griffith; and his siblings, James "Peanut" Shorter, Tim Shorter, Robbie Shorter, Clifton Shorter and Patricia Shoebrook. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
