He was predeceased by: his parents, James Rimel and Shirley McGuire; his adoptive father Alfred McLaughlin, Sr.; and his brother Jeffrey McLaughlin. He is survived by: his spouse Tracy S. McCartney; his children, Alyssa B. McLaughlin of High Point, NC and Justin B. McLaughlin of Cary, NC; his siblings, Timothy McLaughlin, Robert "Bobby" McLaughlin, Alfred "Butch" McLaughlin, Jr., Douglas McLaughlin and Laura Lewis; his friends, Nick and Alysha; and also, Taylor, Judah and Emma Dunn.
