He is survived by: his wife Amy; his children, John Herbert, III (Rachel), Mark (Jennifer), Kahlida, Jonnell (Nic), Lyndsay (Brian), Hannah (John) and Justin; and his grandchildren, Grayce, Maxwell, Hilliard, Peck, Knox, Bellamy and Samara.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Dunbarton Chapel, Howard University Law School (2900 Van Ness St NW, Washington, DC 20008). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
