He was predeceased by: his parents, James Sturla and Grace Sturla; and his siblings, Mary Grace Langrill, James Sturla and Gerard Sturla.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Sturla; his daughters, Theresa Joneckis (Christopher) of Sykesville, Susan Sturla of Westminster and Urbano Rutigliano; his pet Walter; and his siblings, Cecilia Barata of Reisterstown and Lawrence Sturla of Essex. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
