He was predeceased by: his parents, George A. Leister and Jennie Leister (Rill); and his sisters, Lavena Basler and Betty Peregoy. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Lee Leister (Rill); his children, Sonya Leister of Westminster, R. Todd Leister (Sarah) of Raleigh, NC and Jason Leister (Shannon) of Westminster; his grandchildren, Jacob Leister (Laura), Sarah Gherardini (Trent), Austin Leister, Ashley Leister (Aquiles) and Cassidy Glover (Scotty); and his great grandchild Corey Glover.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church (827 Leisters Church Rd, Westminster, MD 21157).
Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church.
