It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathryn LaRoi Downin in Williamsport, Maryland, who passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the sacred silence of farewell, Kathryn is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Preston and Eva Mae Pearce (Francis); her husband Robert L. Downin II; and her sister Norma Jean Jones. She is survived by: her children, Cynthia D. Dean of Hagerstown and Dean A. Martin of Smithsburg, MD; and her stepsons, Robert L. Downin of Falling Waters, WV, Jeffrey P. Downin of Hagerstown and Richard M. Downin of Hagerstown. She is also survived by two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and two step-great-granddaughters.
