He was predeceased by: his parents, Rennie Sidney and Mary Hazel Byrd (Broyhill); and his wife Peggy Lorraine Byrd (Herbert). He is survived by: his children, Tammi R. Taylor of Funkstown, MD and Michael G. Byrd of Williamsport, MD; and his grandchildren, Devon Byrd and William Billman, II.
