He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harry F. Whitney and Esther L. Whitney (Bell); his wife Bonnie Whitney (Sargent) of Brewer; his children, Lori Barnes (Brian), Scott Thompson (Cindy) and Mark Whitney; his grandchildren, Kasey Hewey, Taylor and Ryan Thompson; and his sister Jean Raven (Darryl). He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Kiley & Foley Funeral Service (69 State St, Brewer, ME 04412). A funeral service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A reception was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Jeff's Catering (15 Littlefield Rd, Brewer, ME 04412).
