He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry W. Gurney and Margaret M. Gurney (Ronan). He is survived by: his children, Matthew J. Gurney (Lynda Mockler) of Lynn Haven, FL, Dylan P. Gurney of Framingham, MA and Margaret E. Gurney (Thomas Cavanaugh) of Cary, NC; his fiancée Marcia Chase; his siblings, Patricia Gurney Thibault of Raleigh, NC, Henry W. Gurney Jr. of Palm Desert, CA and David F. Gurney of Orlando, FL; and his nephews, James T. Thibault of Washington, D. C. and Jonathan P. Thibault of Mammoth Lakes, CA..
