With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sharon Ruth Smarc of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, who passed away on December 26, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell Austin and Ruth Austin; her husband Joseph W. Smarc, Jr.; and her brother Michael Austin. She is survived by: her sons, Michael A. Smarc of Cape Elizabeth and Thomas J. Smarc; her daughter-in-law Caroline Smarc; her granddaughters, Carolee Smarc of Westbrook and Caitlyn Smarc of Westbrook; her brother Mark Austin (Cinthia) of Lisbon; her friends, Mary Otulakowski, Stephen Colucci and Sherie Wolfe; Jubal Zimmermann, Jason Carreiro, Tori Dyke and Cindy Austin.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in her memory to local libraries and schools.
