He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlton Garland and Blanche Garland (Dyer); and his siblings, Ernest, Wayne Sellick, Lee Kenney, Edith Garland, Junior Garland and Jack Garland (Stephanie Garland).
He is survived by: his significant other Stephanie S. Day; his children, Chris Garland (Andrea) and Amanda Garland Shipman (Dennis Shipman Jr.); his grandchildren, Elicia Fortier, Michelle Fortier, Dennis Shipman III and Grace Shipman; his great grandchildren, Andre Salmon, Theo Salmon and Brayden Larrabee; his siblings, Kerry Garland, Felicia (Chuck Tompson) and Ricky (Rachel Garland); his mother-in-law Gloria Miller; and his siblings-in-law, Carla Fickett, Melanie Smith and Ted Day. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
