The passing of Kathleen Thornton R. S. M. of Gorham, Maine leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on November 12, 2025 at the age of 88. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Kathleen may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Thornton and Agnes Morrison Thornton; her brother George; and her brother-in-law Fred. She is survived by: her sisters, S. M. of Joseph's Convent and Patricia Williams. She is also survived by three nephews and their families; her dear friend.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 at 9:15 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (307 Congress St, Portland, ME 04101). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at the Calvary Cemetery (1461 Broadway, South Portland, ME 04106).
