We announce the death of Donna Cook of Jay, Maine, who passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 93. Donna will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Rose Petrie and William Petrie; her husband Gilbert Cook; her in-laws, Kenneth and Zelie Cook; her sisters, Olive Buck and Theresa Laliberte; her son-in-law John Gabarra; her close friends, Shirley Libby, Jean Breton, Peggy McDonald, Arlene Purrington, Dot Landry and Benny Benadetto; and her pet Sparkie.
She is survived by: her children, Don, Autumn Cook of West Virginia, David, Kim Cook of Jay, Lisa Gabarra (Kevin O'Connell) of Orrington, Brewer and Daniel Cook and his pet Meatball of New Hampshire; and her grandchildren, Scott, Ryan, Christopher, Morgan and Allyson Cook.
A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Rose of Lima Church (1 Church St, Jay, ME 04239). A burial was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Jay Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the non-profit "25 Days of Kindness" would be greatly appreciated in her honor.
