He was predeceased by: his parents, George, Sr. Couturier and Margaret Couturier (Gallant); his wife Elizabeth (Knowles); and his brother Louis Couturier. He is survived by: his daughter Susan Smith (Randall) of Greene; his grandchildren, Nicole Smith (Christopher Lemmons) of Stoneham, MA and Austin Smith of Alexandria, VA; his sister Mary-Ann Leger (Bruce) of Biloxi; his sisters-in-law, Dolores Couturier of Sabattus, Delores Rioux of Monmouth and Elaine Knowles of Greene; and his close friend Donalene Chandler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, George has requested donations to the Travis Mills Foundation to help support Veterans.
