He was predeceased by: his parents, John Burkhardt and Marion Burkhardt (Jones) of Mattituck. He is survived by: his wife Jean Schwicker; his children, Jessica Brown (Aaron), Jeffrey (Bridget) and Joel; his grandchildren, Tyler, Caleb, Issac Brown, Hunter, Elle and Adeline Burkhardt; his siblings, Barbara Swiderski, Paul Burkhardt (Sherry) and Jay Burkhardt (Kacy); his son Eric Shorey (Melody); and his grandchildren, Matthew, John Mark, Meighan and Molly Strout.

In lieu of flowers it is requested donations be made to the Maine. Special Olympics or the Travis Mills Foundation, organizations Jerry loved and supported.
