He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil E. Burgess and Mable Burgess (Wing); his sister Joanne B. Addison; and his grandson Zachary Mackenzie. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Burgess of Monmouth; his sons, Kevin Burgess (Debbie) of Winthrop and Mark Burgess (Trina) of Monmouth; and his siblings, Dana Burgess (Barbara) of Wilton, Keith Burgess of Litchfield and Deborah Gortmans of Monmouth. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.
