He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie I. Dunton and Dorothy E. Dunton (Reed); his wife Barbara; and his siblings, Irving Leslie Dunton, Clifford Dunton, Alberta Strout and Claudine Farnsworth.
He is survived by: his sons, Walter Jr. (Dawn) of Trenton, Michael of Bar Harbor and David of Bar Harbor; his grandchildren, Ocean Dunton (AnnMarie), Hannah Ela and Joann Dunton; and his great grandchildren, Acadia Dunton, Addison Dunton, Chandler Magee and Arai Dunbar. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
