We announce the death of Samuel C. Hands III (Newport, Maine). Samuel will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Samuel touched many lives and will be remembered fondly for the moments shared and the memories created. Family, friends, and colleagues extend their love and support during this time. While Samuel’s presence will be missed, the influence he had on others will remain. Those who knew him will carry forward memories that reflect his character and spirit.
He was predeceased by: his wife Ellen Hands; his son Michael Hands; and his grandson Gabriel Hands. He is survived by: his children, Jody (William Freudenberger), Rebecca (Brad Underhill), Samuel (Julie Hands), Kathleen (Trevor Snow), Timothy Hands (Paul Jackson), Sara Hatch (Jason Emery) and Noah (Adriena Hands); and his sister-in-law Lynne Geiselman. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Homes and Cremation Care - Newport (117 Main St, Newport, ME 04953).
