With solemn reverence, we commemorate Margaret Leighton of Pembroke, Maine, whose life came to an end on October 9, 2025 at the age of 83, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
Though Margaret may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Margaret touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Cook Sr. and Elaine Whalen Cook of Eastport. She is survived by: her husband Sherman Leighton Sr. of Pembroke; her sister Pauline Cook-Humphries of Perry; and her children, Sherman Leighton Jr. (Barbara Leighton) of Lubec, Mary Leighton-Merkley (Gregory Merkley) of Dover, NH, Julie Leighton-Hardy (Eugene Hardy Jr.) of Pembroke, James Leighton (J. R.) of Pembroke, Bethany Leighton-Jones of Scarborough and John Leighton (John Winchester) of Portland. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Parish (St. Kateri Tekawitha) (51 Washington St, Eastport, ME 04631).
