She was predeceased by: her parents, John A. O'Donnell and Rose O'Donnell (Arvanigian); her former spouse Benard Gene Nelson; her husband John "Jack" Whitten; her brother John E. O'Donnell; and her daughter-in-law Wende Whitten (Poitras).

She is survived by: her children, Elaina Duquette (Brian) of Scarborough, Shari Lyne McDonough (Nelson) of Portland and Peter Whitten of Hollis; her grandchildren, Ashley Montgomery (AJ) of Auburn, Kristen Johnson (Daniel) of Warwick, Matthew Duquette of Freeport, Michael McDonough of Portland and Timothy Whitten of Windham; and her great grandchildren, Ariel, Ava, Aylie, Atlas Montgomery, Kase, Laine Johnson and Aria Parker.
