He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Gillespie and Evelyn Gillespie Sr. (Nute); his sisters, Mary Jane, Ellen and Linda; and his grandsons, Eric and Kristopher.

He is survived by: his wife Glenda Demers; his children, Emily Tibbetts (Matthew) of Westbrook, Riean Gillespie (Amanda) of Windham and Kristine Gillespie of Durham; the mother of his children Glenda Demers; his grandsons, Eli and Adam; his siblings, Donna Pooler, MaryAnne Weeman, Patrick Gillespie (Anna) of Steep Falls and William Gillespie (Lisa) of Liberty; and also Sam DiFazio. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
