Carl Butler Obituary

He was predeceased by: his parents, William W. Butler and Beatrice Butler; his wife Barbara A. Stevens of Portland; his siblings, William A. Butler and Doris Stanely; his close friend Gordon Stanely; and his grandson Christopher Costa.
He is survived by: his sister Maxine Philbrook of Thomaston; his stepchildren, William'Bill'Butler, II (Linda) of Jefferson, Deborah Costa of Liberty, Cynthia Spearin (Stephen) of Appleton and Kimberly Brown (Blake) of Palermo; and his grandchildren, Kathleen Posey (Justin), Daniel Boothby, Victoria Butler, Joseph Costa (Julie), Anthony Costa (Shannon), Allison Costa, Stephen Spearin (Kimberly), Samuel Spearin, Alex Spearin (Grace) and Jeremy Brown. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home (110 Limerock St, Rockland, ME 04841). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Palermo Christian Church (322 Branch Mills Rd, Palermo, ME 04354).
