He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis O'Neil and Anna Mae O'Neil (Lehan); and his son Christopher O'Neil. He is survived by: his pets, Maggie, Duffy and Walter; his children, Michael O'Neil, Timothy O'Neil and Kathleen O'Neil; his grandchildren, Jack, Megan O'Neil, Liam Gunther, Danny and Kevin O'Neil; his sister Judith O'Neil of Mexico; and his former wife Judith O'Neil.
