She was predeceased by: her parents, Gustav H. Carlson and Ethel L. Morse; her husband Herbert J. Staples, Jr.; and her siblings, Arline Springer, Florence Vanhoek, Norma Davee, Richard Carlson, Alfred Carlson, Gustav "Sonny" Carlson and Robert Carlson.
She is survived by: her children, Herbert "Joey" Staples III (Sheila) of Augusta, Susan Lewis (David Riedy) of Liberty, Deborah Brown (Earle) of Lincolnville, Robert Staples (Sharon Smalley) of Warren and Alissa "Lisa" Staples (Wade Thibodeau) of Camden; her siblings, Karen Gerard (Jim) of Rockland, Judith Carlson of Thomaston, Roger Carlson (Sheila) of Rockland, Hilma Meklin of Rockland and Donald Carlson (Catherine) of Rockland; her grandchildren, Mandy Staples, Samantha Staples, Jason Taylor, Chris Brown, Lindsey Bragg, Jessica Bernier and Mathew Thibodeau; and her great grandchildren, Alana Fancy, Natalie Brown, Eva Bragg and Emmy Bragg.
