He is survived by: his wife Winnifred; his children, Richard Jr. (Merle), Scott, Cheryl Spaulding (Michael) and Deborah Swain (Marvin); his grandchildren, Amy (Robert Burley), Lisa (Brett Scott), Heather Hanson, Evans Hanson, Trevor Spaulding (Elizabeth) and Ryan Spaulding (Cori); his great grandchildren, Justin Burley, Amelia Burley, Chase Hanson, Lexi Spaulding, Mikey Spaulding, Theo Spaulding and Henry Spaulding; his sister Betty Higgins; and his sister-in-law Arlene Hanson.
