He was predeceased by: his parents, William Swetland and Dorothy Swetland (Bourne); his former wife JoAnn; his half-brother Gregory Swetland; and his stepbrother Rick Newpher.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Swetland (Scaraville); his children, Jeff Swetland (Jennifer), Nicole Burton and Matthew Swetland; his grandchildren, William, Alexandra, Nathaniel, Jack and Daniel; his brother Dudley Swetland (Sharron); and his stepbrother Brian Newpher. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
